Job Opening: Senior LINUX/Network Administrator

Soapstone Networks is developing software for carrier’s next-generation networks and currently hiring a Senior Linux/Network Administrator. Soapstone Networks is focused on developing solutions which will render some of today’s networking technologies obsolete and which will enable carriers and service providers to deploy and provision next generation IP based services in a way which maximizes their revenues and minimizes their operating expenses.

This position will report to the Director of IT and be part of a 4 person team. The perfect candidate will have experience supporting Windows and have an extensive background in Linux.  

As the Senior LINUX/Network Admin you will:

• It is also expected that this person will have worked with Windows 2000, 2003 systems, exchange 03/07 and fully understand Active Directory Services.
• Setup and management of the following: SSH, DNS, DHCP, NFS, NIS, LDAP, SNMP, Sendmail, Rsync, Samba, CIFS, NTP, SVN, Bugzilla, MoinMoin and LVM. Enterprise Backup Systems running on Linux and Windows. SAN and NAS infrastructures. EMC Clarion and Netapp a plus. Managing Web-servers with Apache and TomCat. Setup and configuration of Open-Source Network Management systems such as Cacti, Nagios, or MRTG. VMWare Virtual Infrastructure 3.5 and VirtualCenter 2.5 experience in a clustered DRS environment is a MUST.
• Troubleshoot and support Linux systems and their associated Virtual machines.
• Setup and management of enterprise class firewalls (Astaro security gateway experience a plus), VPN, IPSEC point-to-point, and SSL over IPSEC.
• Layer 2/3 networking. Extreme Switches a plus.
• Setup and management of Blackberry Enterprise Servers.
• Experience with enterprise disk imaging systems (Acronis TrueImage Server a must ).
• Shell Scripting, including BASH, Perl.
• A demonstrated ability to document his/her work.

Skills needed to work in this environment:

• 8+ years experience managing various server, storage, security, and network technologies. This person will be instrumental in supporting and enhancing a fast-paced, development-oriented corporate environment.
• The successful candidate should have over 5 years experience focused in Redhat Enterprise Server (RHEL 4 and 5) and/or other Linux distributions.
• BS in CS or EE is preferred.
• Applicants must be customer-focused and continuously strive to maintain the utmost level of system performance, security, and stability.
• Must have superior problem solving skills.
• Adept at keeping up-to-date with the latest technical trends and can commit to and meet tight deadlines.
• Must have outstanding written and verbal skills.
